Data & AI Strategist | 23x Salesforce -Slack -Tableau Certified | Author - O'Reilly Salesforce Data Cloud | Author - O'Reilly Snowflake Definitive Guide | Snowflake Data Superhero | CPA & CFO

🌻 2nd Edition of Snowflake The Definitive Guide: Architecting, Designing and Deploying on the AI Data Cloud [book] 💬 I've had several people ask about the status of my new O'Reilly book that I'm writing ✍ about Snowflake so I thought I'd share a quick update. 🏂 This weekend I'm finishing up my third chapter in the book -- the chapter about Snowflake Architecture is in progress and almost done! I've already completed the chapters for Native App Framework and Built-in Data Governance and Discovery. I've planned a total of 18 chapters for the second edition of the 📘 book. Below is a [tentative] Table of Contents. 1 - Snowflake AI Data Cloud 2 - Snowflake Architecture [in progress] 3 - Query Processing Compute Layer 4 - Snowflake Account Access Controls 5 - Database Objects: Schemas, Tables, and Views 6 - Other Database Objects 7 - Data Loading and Unloading 8 - AI Key Features and Their Impact on Workloads 9 - Configuring and Managing Secure Data Sharing 10 - Native App Framework [completed] 11 - Machine Learning Workload 12 - Cortex Search and Cortex Analyst 13 - Document AI and Snowflake Copilot 14 - Marketing Workload 15 - Built-in Data Governance and Discovery [completed] 16 - Continuous Data Protection and Data Recovery 17 - Interoperable Storage, Apache Iceberg, and Polaris 18 - Wrapping Up and Next Steps I've also been having great conversations 🗨️ with some really incredible people who have been helping to fill in some knowledge 🧠 gaps for me. I do a good job of keeping current with new Snowflake features but there have been a LOT of Snowflake ❄️ innovations released since I wrote the first edition of the book. I've outlined several chapters with content already so I expect to make some great progress toward the finish line 🏇 in the next few weeks. Then I'm off for an extended 🧳 vacation in September where I will be enjoying some much needed time off. For everyone who has been 🍻 cheering me on privately and asking me how it's going -- thank you! 🙏 It's not always easy to stay focused and motivated all the time so I'm very appreciative of the support of my colleagues and friends. #datasuperhero #SnowflakeBook #DataCloudBook #DataCloud #AIDataCloud #CortexAI #NativeAppFramework #HorizonCatalog #ApacheIceberg #Copilot #SnowflakeCopilot

Excellent O'Reilly Radar piece on AI agents and APIs, absolutely worth reading. She makes a good case for why you should care about AI agents. We all use APIs! But as Louise C. points out, while APIs aren't going away, they're definitely evolving in the AI-enabled world. If we want AI agents to truly leverage what we build, our APIs need to become machine-consumable, self-describing, and semantically rich. This is a crucial shift developers need to embrace to unlock the full potential of AI. Have a look!

Head of Engineering at ADSP | O'Reilly Author of 'Building Generative AI Services with FastAPI'

At OpenAI: “Pretty much everything operates around FastAPI to create APIs and Pydantic for validation” - Calvin French-Owen This is coming from one of the core developers at OpenAI who contributed to launching their codex product. It’s exactly one of the main reasons I wanted to create a structured and practical resource on this amazing framework, when working with Generative AI models. I myself had so many questions and challenges as soon as I wanted to work with these models. If you haven’t picked up a copy, it’s never too late to dive in. It’s got everything you need to get you started with FastAPI and Pydantic, and start building GenAI services, chatbots, RAG and other AI systems with this amazing web framework. Just like how OpenAI did it. What are are your thoughts on FastAPI? Do you think OpenAI made the right choices selecting this technology for their services and APIs?
