Two cities. Thousands of leaders. One clear message: AI is ready to deliver real business value. From Orlando to Barcelona, our teams joined the global conversation at the Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo to explore how innovation and AI are transforming the enterprise, driving productivity, agility, and sustainable growth across industries. What stood out most was the shift in mindset. The era of experimentation is giving way to a new chapter, where organizations are focused on scaling what works and making AI deliver tangible results. Our sessions, demos, and client discussions all pointed toward the same goal: moving from buzz to business outcomes. We’ve shared these insights in our latest New at McKinsey blog, “Beyond the buzz: making AI work for real business value.” It takes a deeper dive into what we shared at Gartner, and how leaders can bridge the gap between ambition and execution to unlock AI’s full potential. Check out the link in the comments to read more. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our sessions and booths, challenged ideas, and shared their stories. The excitement from these events only strengthens our belief: innovation isn’t just about what’s possible, it’s about what’s next. #McKinseyDigital #McKinseyOperations #GartnerSYM

  • Businesses are increasingly including nature in their corporate commitments. But financial markets are only just starting to embed it into decision-making frameworks. As COP30 spotlights nature's critical role in climate action, World Economic Forum and McKinsey have consolidated available guidance into 37 financial solutions to mobilize capital for nature. • The age of AI will not be defined by the machines' capabilities alone, but by our courage, imagination, and discipline as we shape what they become. In the latest edition of The Strategic CEO newsletter, senior partner and The New York Times bestselling author Carolyn Dewar proposes that AI is not just testing our intelligence, but also our judgment — the very quality that defines genuine leadership. As COP30 unfolds here in Belém, the world’s attention is on how we can turn ambition into action for a more sustainable and inclusive future. From our vast natural capital and clean energy matrix to our dynamic industry base, Brazil plays a critical role in the global climate agenda. I see this moment as more than a conference; it’s an opportunity for collaboration and concrete progress. By bringing together governments, businesses, and communities, Brazil can inspire the world to accelerate the transition to a net-zero, nature-positive economy. #COP30 #McKinseySustainability #McKinseyAtCOP

Beyond the headlines, businesses are accelerating on the “trilemma” of energy systems that are affordable, secure, and clean. But talking to leaders at COP30 this week, it’s clear there’s a lot more opportunity on all three. An update to McKinsey Global Institute's report on the “hard stuff” of the energy transition lays out the progress we've seen lately. Overall, we’ve accelerated deployment over the last two years, but we're still moving at half the pace necessary to avoid the worst of climate change and keep our economies and communities healthy and growing: https://lnkd.in/gff9vJ_8 The bright spots are clear. For example, 2024 saw the installation of 600GW of low-emissions power like solar, a 2x increase in as many years. But momentum is concentrated: China alone delivered nearly two-thirds of recent additions in renewables and EVs. And while progress has been strong in low-emissions power, electric vehicles, and critical minerals, we’re still in early stages across carbon capture, hydrogen, and heavy industry. The scale of the challenge is daunting, but I’m leaving COP even more determined to help our clients solve the “trilemma” in full. The road ahead will take grit and a long-term, steady focus. But the benefits—to people living better lives, the first movers who shape new industries, and the economies that grow more inclusively and sustainably than before—will be worth it. I don’t have all the answers, but I finished my trip to Brazil visiting with some colleagues who might. Our Belo Horizonte office is small, mighty, and full of ideas on how to build on their country’s already impressive progress on renewable energy… and find new opportunities in green tech, nature-based solutions, resilience and adaptation, and more. Thanks to those colleagues for hosting me, to our COP30 team, and to Mekala Krishnan, Tiago DevesaChris BradleyHumayun TaiSven Smit, and Carlo Tanghetti for their work on the "hard stuff" report.
