    🇪🇺🤝🇯🇵 Europe and Japan are trusted partners in a changing world    We share values: fairness, openness, and respect for rules.    At the 30th EU–Japan Summit, we took important steps to deepen our partnership.    Today, we launched the 🇪🇺🇯🇵 Competitiveness Alliance, to boost our economies and step up cooperation through:  🔸 Increased trade, ensuring that our citizens and businesses benefit from the opportunities it creates 🔸 Strengthened economic security by enhancing cooperation on supply chain resilience and reducing strategic dependencies 🔸 Accelerated work on innovation, clean technology, and digital transformation by promoting and protecting critical and emerging technologies, with close cooperation on energy and pathways toward net-zero    We are also putting our Security and Defence Partnership fully into action, with plans to launch the first EU-Japan Defence Industrial Dialogue next year.    In a time of global uncertainty, our shared values of fairness, openness and respect for rules matter more than ever.

  • 🇪🇺🤝🇯🇵     The EU and Japan are strengthening their strategic partnership.    Today, President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa are in Japan for the 30th EU–Japan Summit with Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.    Together, they will focus on:  📈 Boosting trade and competitiveness  🏗️ Strengthening secure and resilient supply chains  🌱 Driving green and digital innovation  ⚓ Enhancing maritime security  📡 Tackling foreign information manipulation  🔧 Expanding defence industry cooperation    Before the Summit, Presidents von der Leyen and Costa will visit the Osaka World Expo 2025, including the EU, Japanese and Ukrainian pavilions.    The EU and Japan are building a more secure, sustainable and connected world.  From innovation to defence, this partnership is shaping the future.

  • Online platforms must do better to protect children.     We’re issuing new guidelines under the Digital Services Act to support the protection of minors. These were developed following an inclusive and extensive consultation process.    The guidelines include recommendations to tackle:     👉 Addictive design  👉 Cyberbullying  👉 Harmful content  👉 Unwanted contact from strangers    Children and young people should be able to enjoy the benefits of the online world without being exposed to harm.     Under the #DSA, we are taking clear steps to make this a reality.    Read more: europa.eu/!QvQBqR    #EuropeanUnion
