At the recent STAC Summit in NYC, the cPacket team presented “Silent Stalls, Big Impacts: Exposing Hidden Bottlenecks in AI Data Centers.” As AI infrastructure rapidly expands across financial services, hidden issues like microbursts, sync delays, and congestion can quietly sabotage performance. Norman Bright shared how packet-level visibility and high-resolution telemetry are helping firms uncover these silent stalls—leading to faster model convergence, better GPU utilization, and reduced latency. A big thank you to Jack Gidding, CEO of STAC, for hosting another fantastic event that brings the industry’s top minds together to tackle the technical challenges of modern trading and AI infrastructure. In the dynamic intersection of network performance and security, cPacket stands out by delivering essential packet-level insights. At #NFD38 (hosted by Tech Field Day), I explored how cPacket is reshaping the observability landscape with AI-assisted workflows, deep packet inspection, and seamless integration into platforms like ServiceNow and Grafana. These capabilities play a pivotal role in creating real synergy between NetOps and SecOps. In my latest write-up, I highlight the standout elements of cPacket’s approach and why packet data remains foundational in today’s increasingly complex digital environments.

  • On Episode 17 of Andy & Iain Talk Networking, we dive into why NetOps and SecOps work better together. Iain and Andy explore how aligning these two teams in today’s high-traffic networks leads to faster threat detection, stronger security, and reduced time to resolution. From shared data demands to overlapping responsibilities, the convergence of NetOps and SecOps isn’t just helpful—it’s essential. ✅ Why unified visibility matters ✅ Where edge-only monitoring falls short ✅ How collaboration improves MTTI and MTTR Watch now to see how breaking silos builds stronger security. • Networking isn’t just a foundation—it’s now a strategic driver of AI performance and scalability. In this thoughtful post, Iain Kenney reflects on a standout quote from Ram V.'s blog: "Networking used to be an afterthought. Now it’s a strategic enabler of AI performance, efficiency, and scalability." At cPacket, we’re seeing this shift firsthand. As AI workloads grow, the demand on NetOps teams to identify and resolve issues—faster and with precision—is higher than ever. That’s where packet-level observability comes in. Whether you’re running next-gen AI infrastructure or tried-and-true enterprise networks, packets remain the single source of truth. Thanks to Iain for the great insight—and to Ram Velega for sparking the conversation. Since the announcement from Broadcom on Tomahawk Ultra earlier in the week I have been thinking about all things networking and observability. I really appreciated the blog by Ram V. on AI Networking Myths and out of all the Myths that he debunked the quote at the end really struck me. "Networking used to be an afterthought. Now it’s a strategic enabler of AI performance, efficiency, and scalability." How right he is! Networking used to be hidden but now it is front and center for all the reasons outlined in the blog. BUT! That also now puts the NetOps team in the firing line when it comes to be able to understand the issues FASTER (and FASTER!). cPacket has always been focused on the packets running on your network to deliver your Observability goals. Whether it is a new shiny network for your AI workloads or a traditional approach which has been running your business workloads successfully for a few years. Packets are the single source of truth for all networks! Specifically Ethernet since it continually seems to win all the battles it tries to fight. 😁 Anyway check out the blog (https://lnkd.in/eAWmAxQk) and also check out cPacket (https://www.cpacket.com) since you need both parts of the story to really win this war. #networkobservability #ethernet

  • Great insights coming out of Networking Field Day 38! Networking is Evolving for the Future and the presentations at Networking Field Day 38 prove it. On this episode of Tech Field Day Takeaways from Networking Field Day 38, Tom Hollingsworth shares his key observations from the event and highlights the trends driving the future of enterprise networking. He begins by noting a shift in focus away from the network operating system itself. Companies like Hedgehog and Aviz Networks demonstrated impressive technology built on the open-source SONiC OS, but the spotlight was on the applications and platforms layered on top—signaling a broader industry move toward prioritizing outcomes over infrastructure details. Tom highlights HPE Aruba Networking’s strong presence at the event, showcasing a comprehensive portfolio spanning campus, data center, and wireless solutions. Aruba Central emerged as a unifying platform for streamlined IT operations. With the recent Juniper Networks acquisition, HPE is poised for a promising future—though questions remain about product integration and potential overlaps. Lastly, he explores how service assurance is becoming central to operations. cPacket demonstrated proactive fault detection, AI-driven remediation suggestions, and seamless ITSM integrations that help minimize or even prevent downtime. These innovations reinforce the critical role of data collection and analysis in modern network operations. Networking Field Day 38 welcomed three new delegates into the community, including Mike Huot, Nathan Nielsen, and Ryan Harris. #NFD38 #TFDTakeaways #Networking #AI #NetworkOperations #WirelessNetworks #DataCenter #AIforNetworking Moderator: Tom Hollingsworth Delegates: Aaron ConawayChris GrundemannDan KelcherEdward WeadonJody LemoineJohn HerbertLindsay HillMike HuotNathan NielsenRoy ChuaRyan Harris, and Snehal Patel
