Tabinoyado Saikawa ligger i Kuroishi, 33 km fra Towada-søen, og har gratis wi-fi samt gratis privat parkering. This is a traditional Japanese ryokan with public baths (gender separated). Dinner and breakfast are amazing and plentiful, with locally sourced organic produce (even coffee!). Our room (Japanese room with private toilet) was to the left of the entrance. It was very spacious. The heater worked very well as autumn night was a bit damp and cold. The beds are futons on wood bed frames on tatami, and they are super comfortable. As I have a whole-leg tattoo which is usually not permitted in the public baths, I notified Ranko in advance, and she reserved the private bath for us. The private bath was a very beautiful blue ceramic bath filled with warm (I don’t think it’s very hot) healing hot spring water from the area. Ranko’s warm personality really made the stay memorable. Be sure to ask her for recommendations of the areas. She is a well of knowledge of the area!

Kameya Hotel ligger i Tsuruoka, 3,5 km fra Kamo Aquarium, og har en have og gratis privat parkering. Ryokanen har en varm kilde og en døgnåben reception samt gratis wi-fi overalt. Amazing history and gardens. Rooms were enormous, with open views of the beach and with a cedar bathtub fed by hot springs in the room.

Ichiraku tendo spa & brewery ligger i Tendo, 30 km fra Zao Skiresort, og har en have, et fælles opholdsområde og en terrasse samt gratis privat parkering. Denne ryokan har 5 stjerner. What a cool place! There were so many opportunities to taste the beer that was brewed locally on-site. From the drinks bar at check-in to the tasting room open all day to the all-you-can-drink plan at dinner, the hotel was really quite generous with their liquid offerings. Even non-drinkers are accommodated with plenty of alcohol-free options. We also liked that they had multiple private baths on site. The main onsen were also quite nice. The food was fantastic and the beef served at dinner was some of the best I've had.

Yuze Hotel ligger i Yuze Onsen-distriktet i Kazuno. Denne ryokan har 4 stjerner. Her er et fælles opholdsområde, aircondition og gratis wi-fi. Alle værelser har et privat badeværelse. The dinner was amazing - there was a station where the staff prepares a small dish on the spot for you. The onsen was eye-opening to say the least. It is located beside a stream / forest, and it was refreshing to soak in the onsen while listening to the stream flow by.

Takasagoya Ryokan ligger i Zao Onsen. Denne ryokan har 3 stjerner. Her er en restaurant, aircondition og gratis wi-fi. Alle værelser har et fælles badeværelse. The owners/staff are extremely kind and accommodating. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. They allowed me to check in early and even let me use the onsen in the afternoon after checkout.

The staff were extremely friendly and very customer service oriented. The room and facilities were of extremely high quality - I felt as if I was in a 5 star hotel. The dinner was perfect. Hot springs are very pleasant.

Tokinenoyado Yunushi Ichijoh is situated in the Kamasaki Onsen district in Shiroishi, a 15-minute drive from Shiroishi Station and Shiroishi-Zao Station. Where to begin? The room was excellent in size and had a nice feeling to it. The onsen was close by. The staff was so kind and service minded. The whole experience with dinner and breakfast was exceptional, especially the staff member whom served us with excellent English. Just the whole experience was quite wonderful.

Hohoemino Kuyufu Tsuruya har naturlige varme kilder og ligger 15 minutters gang fra JR Tendo Station og 50 km fra Sendai. Der er gratis wi-fi overalt og gratis privat parkering på stedet. Beautiful property. The room was spacious! Even for Western standards. The private onsen was very nice. We did not try the public onsen. The staff were courteous and helpful. Although the staff had limited English proficiency, they all used a translation app to help with communication which was incredibly helpful.
