Perfect for us! We loved the stay as a family, though it probably helped that my wife speaks Japanese. The service was top notch, and the meals were absolutely perfect - a fantastic overall ryokan experience for us.

When people ask us how was our trip to Japan - we tell them about THIS PLACE. It was magical. I could cry thinking about it. Only an hour or so bus ride from Takayama, you arrive to the most peaceful, serene place. The staff was so attentive. Our room overlooked the river which had a mini waterfall, creating the perfect sound backdrop to our stay. The robes and pajamas provided were high quality and comfortable, and most of the guests walked around in them the whole time. The outdoor onsens by the river were INSANELY beautiful. I did not want to leave. My spouse and I also got to use one of the private onsens accross the road and WOW was it so perfect. The private onsens have indoor and outdoor baths, beautiful gardens, and great showers. The communal indoor onsen is also beautiful and peaceful. The meals here are memory-making, unforgettable experiences. Multi-course kaiseki style, with local mountain vegetables, hida beef, and inventive preparations. Cheers to the chef! You get your own private table with a hearth, and the staff member assigned to you explains each dish. Breakfast was also like this - we ate grilled miso each morning over rice. We left our stay here feeling nourished, healthy, relaxed, and happy. Also the morning market was so charming and we bought a lot of things to bring home with us. I want to go back!!!

The ultimate choice for an authentic Japanese Ryokan experience! We had a room with Tatami mats and futon beds, a private bathroom and we got to wear Yukatas in and out of the hotel. The staff was super friendly and helped us with whatever we needed and breakfast was also great (Both the Japanese and European one). The Train and Bus stations were just 2 minutes walking distance. Thanks for everything!

Traditional Japanese Ryokan with nicely decorated rooms. This was my first Ryokan experience and I have never felt as well cared for as during my stay there. Futon was very comfortable, too (I have never slept on one before). Staff is very attentive and helpful. Great inhouse onsens. Yukata were available for free for guests. Many ammendities were available for free and I loved their shampoo. Takayama old city center is just a 15 min walk away. Takayama station is just 6 min away by foot.

Vegetarian traditional breakfast was offered upon request! We loved it and our whole stay at this traditional Ryokan! The Onsen is not too hot (still hot haha) and super relaxing. There are even two private Onsen available free of charge (min. 2 people). The rooms are very beautiful and quiet and you’ve got the opportunity to wear Yukata during your stay. We can highly recommend and would love to come back!

Food is the highlight here. Both of the breakfasts I had were wonderful feasts, with warm dishes cooked on little burners at the table. One had crab, beef and tofu stew, eggs, bacon, sausage, all in one meal. The onsen are great. Staff are friendly. All the usual trappings of a Ryokan are here, sandals, tatami, yukata, keys with huge blocky keyrings

Beautiful Japanese Inn! The room was spacious, and the futon was comfy enough to asleep. Free drinks available downstairs and for the breakfast. Onsen was small but well maintained. This Ryokan is old but the shower room and toilet were all renovated and super clean. Staffs are very kind!
