Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Such a unique place to stay. It really was a convent many years ago. They have kept the charm of this lovely old building. With a modern twist on the amenties. Bonus addition is the onsite restaurant Ada. Had an expectional meal there, would love come back next time we stay in the area.

there wasnt anything we disliked.
Its perfect for us as a romantic getaway or when we have something on in the city as we live outskirts of Auckland. we loved it - and the ADA resto is fabulous. Wed def recommend and we will be staying many more times.

We stayed on a Saturday night. The restaurant was busy and was a little on the noisey side until around 11pm.
The decor in the entire hotel is beautiful! We both loved the nods to the convent. The room was small but well appointed. The reception staff were friendly, professional and informative.

We loved our stay at The Convent Hotel! The staff were fantastic - we were given an extra key, a vase for our flowers and a fascinating talk about the hotel's history. The rooms were very clean. The beds and pillows were super comfy. Our accommodation was beautiful and unique. This hotel has a lovely peaceful vibe - it even smells beautiful (all the woodwork). Our stay was such an enjoyable mid-winter treat. We will be back!

The rooms have very high ceilings and there was only a small wall heater in the room, which did not heat the room sufficiently. It was a particularly cold winter night and the room felt chilly. Also, we have stayed at the Convent at least 8 times over the years. It would be nice for the reception staff to be aware of this and welcome you back rather than ask if this is your first visit each time. Also, extra treats for repeat guests would be a lovely touch.
Lovely restored convent with interesting art and stylish rooms. Great location. On site parking is also a bonus.

The exterior and interior decorating is award worthy. Such a unique first class destination in every way, including the restaurant. It far exceeded anything we have ever experienced overseas. We will certainly be back.

the roadworks outside but that's only temporary.
By far my favourite place to stay in Auckland - Close Uber to everything and the facilities are outstanding. Beautiful restaurant & bar onsite too. Amazing value for money!

An extra heater would have been good.

Dust on the light fittings and fan vents suggested the cleaners need to be a bit more thorough.
Snacks and great range of tea was a nice touch. Beds and room warm and comfortable. Lovely ambiance with religious iconography and paintings.

Beautiful original Hotel. I enjoyed my night there. Really nice check out with a good talk with the Hotel's owner. (I arrived very late for meeting anyone during the check-in (that was well organized too).

That I had to leave to go to a work event, I'd rather have stayed in all night!
I love the old school vibe of this place! A unique twist in decorations, the room was beautiful, very spacious and cozy. The staff are very accommodating.

Well though the luggage is very difficult to go up stair, however I understand the building is very well maintained to look as it was before. Beautiful staircases must be there; I would like to keep the building as beautiful as it is.

As much as I loved the whole set up. Taking up heavy luggage and taking down heavy luggage on stairs. But still love the stairs as it’s apart of the original building. Only other thing is shower heads need to be cleaned out or replaced. But I’d still come back and stay anytime.
