The Veneto offers relaxation and recreation in world-famous cities and wonderful landscapes. Words don’t do justice to its ever-serene capital Venice, a captivating maze of canals and monuments. Cheap hotels in Venice are scarce, but Mestre across the lagoon offers more budget options.

Cheap flights to Venice land in Treviso, a little version of that fabled city. Also centred on canals is beautiful Chioggia, home to several Veneto hotels on the beach. Yet more are in Caorle, near its distinctive 11th-century bell tower and waterfront church. Another family-friendly Veneto resort with a long beach is Lido di Jesolo.

In studenty Padua, Giotto’s 14th-century frescoes in the Scrovegni Chapel are bursting with colour. The majestic Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza was designed by Palladio, the prolific architect whose villas and churches cover the Veneto. Romantic Verona inspired Romeo and Juliet and has an incredibly well-preserved Roman arena hosting summer opera.

    Its even more beautiful then the pictures I've seen on the web. Being in it is quite the experience. Its expensive. You don't have places to fill up your water, so you need to pay for water bottles which are 2 euros per 500ml. The restaurants, for a family of four is between 150 to 200 euros. The water taxis cost 2x to 3x as much as regular ones. We went in July and there are a LOT of tourist. We got a break by renting an apartment in a non touristic area.

    After the crowds of Rome and Venice it was an absolute pleasure to arrive to Verona. Absolutely delightful town with its iconic arena at the heart of. There are some wonderful treasures to be discovered here.

    This is a place for people who want to chill on the beach for the entire duration of their holiday. There is barely anything else to do. The beach is an endless forest of sunbeds and parasols with restaurants nearby.

    Venice (island) is worth a visit but it is very busy and prices higher than the mainland. Mestre is more quiet, less stressful. Consider staying at Mestre and launch your day (or evening) trips from there. Only 10 minutes with train from Mestre to Venezia St. Lucia.

    Bibione has a sandy shallow beach perfect for families with small kids. Pay a bit extra to get an umbrella on row 1 or 2. Then you can easily monitor your kids while they are playing on the beach. Usually warmer sea temperature than the Mediterranean side. It is a multitude of restaurants with quite a variety on the menu. Very easy to get around with car, bicycle or by foot

    After traveling to so many places in Italy, Padova is possibly one of the most underrated cities. There are several basilicas, chapels, markets, piazzas and restaurants to visit. It's also in a great location; so close to Venice, Vicenza and Verona. The atmosphere is also cool with the university in the center of the city.

    I didnt believe that Caorle could be a good place for a holiday on beach before, but I was supriced nicely. It is great place for comfort holiday. The guest could find everything there. Very clean environment and friendly Italian people.

    I have the impression that the town has lost so many of its...

    I have the impression that the town has lost so many of its services - supermarkets, fruit and veg shops, delis - and the permanent citizens of Peschiera have put their efforts into restaurants, bars and shops. It is a very pretty town but I feel it is not a real town but a tourist town. In high season the ferries are frequent to visit towns around the lake. The bus service in the area functions but is crowded due to the huge number of tourists.

    This place was amazing!

    This place was amazing! Great location to begin any hikes at the Rifugio Auronzo. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was very cleanly & the facilities were good. Parking access was plentiful and very easy. We are breakfast & dinner there with plenty of options and everything very well made. We would definitely stay here again.

    Awesome place to visit - lots of charming streets and lovely bars and restaurants and quaint shops. It quitens down on an evening when day visitors go home ! Castle worth a visit views from Tower are awesome / too many lovely restaurants and coffee shops to name ! Loved swimming in lake past the castle ! Visited Monty balding last time so didn’t do this time but fab trip if visiting!
