This is the 4th time I have stayed here, and on each occasion it has been perfect. The location is spot on for the center of town, or for walks along the river. It's clean, comfortable and the breakfast is great. But, the best thing about the hotel is the staff. They are all so lovely, friendly and helpful. They treat you like they know you as apposed just a customer. Thank you for another great stay.

Central location but very quiet and peaceful. We arrived late but our arrival was welcoming and very friendly. Staying in the attic rooms which were very clean, the twin particularly spacious. Ideal for our short stay but would loved to have stayed longer! Very tasty breakfast with wide choice catering for everyone.

From the very first moment, you feel like you’ve stepped into a magical castle. A piano plays by itself, a cheerful butler greets you in the lift, and frozen toys peek out from balconies in the lobby, waiting for the show to begin. The room offers a cozy bed, spotless comfort, a coffee machine, and premium amenities. Everything is beautifully designed, clean, and smells wonderful. Breakfast is outstanding, with an impressive variety to suit every taste. The staff are all friendly, kind, and truly care about your stay. Don’t miss the themed park Popsländ — stunning scenery, perfect location, and a handy app that shows queue times (which, by the way, were never longer than 10 minutes)! Thank you very much.

This was the first time post-Covid that I'd stopped here, having stayed on several occassions previously, most recently in 2019. My expectations despite the 6 year gap between stays were met Sophy, the owner, was charming. The location is excelent for touring Flanders. The bedroom was comfy, spotlessly clean with ample drawer and cupboard space for clothes etc. The breakfast buffet was first class. The communal area was also spotless with plenty of information about the local area (e.g. places to visit, restaurants etc.) and the honesty bar was amply stocked with a variety of drinks and snacks.

Nieuwpoort consists of the main town which in a little distance inland, and Nieuwpoort-Bad which is at the seaside. Make sure you pick the right one. Nieuwpoort-Bad is one of the better Belgian seaside towns with shops, good hotels and apartments, and entertainment. It’s also a good base from which to drive or take the Littoral tram along the coast. Parking can be a pain, but most of the seaside towns offer 30mins free then €1 or €1.50 per hour. But you have to register your number plate and take a ticket for the free 30 mins option. Santos Palace in nearby Koksijde is a must visit for hot chocolate, waffles and patisserie.

Ypres is a beautiful city just over the French border in Belgium. An easy drive from Calais or Dunkirk the city is at the heart of Flanders Fields and is a must for those with an interest in the history of the Great War. The museum in the town centre, the Grot Markt is a great place to start a visit and from there places like Tyne Cot, Sanctuary Wood, Essex Farm and Langemark are easy to get to. There is a very wide range of places to eat and drink all around the town centre, take your pick, and you will not be disappointed. Shopping in town is easy and although there is a plethora of chocolate shops the best by far is Leonadis on the main square where the owners Hans and Stephanie will make you very welcome. Parking in and around Ypres is easy and generally very cheap. This is a great place to experience Flemish food, beer ..and chocolate as well as taking in the history. The 8:00pm ceremony of the Last Post at the Menin Gate I think is a must. Every night the main Menin Road is closed and people gather to remember the men who died in the Ypres Salient in the Great War and have no known grave. A moving and respectful way to remember the men from all over the Commonwealth who are honoured here.

A beautiful apartment, spotlessly clean and in a great location, views from the balcony were amazing ! All round terrace so views from every room. Lift access from a free car parking space underneath the building. Kitchen had everything you need for but if you are coming by car remember to bring the little things like coffee, tea and sugar and a tea towel and maybe a coat hanger or two, me personally lived out of my case so it did not bother me too much but my friend hand her clothes on the coat pegs in the hallway. Not a biggie. There is a Lidl and Aldi about a mile away which was handy, but we did not see any other shops close by, it was February so possibly the shops are seasonal. Transport links very good, and we caught the coastal tram to Ostend which was just under 8 euros for a day pass, so you can hop on and off all day. I cannot say anything negative about the apartment and would highly recommend

The Beach at Koksijde is absolutely stunning. There are plenty of Restraunts and beach bars. Friday Mornings there is a street market with local belgian foods and other small business vendors. Everything you could want on a beach vacation is easily accessible on ZeeLaan (Main Street) Taking advantage of the KustTram you can travel from DePanne to Ostende (where you can catch the train to Brugge - a definite must see)

We have decided to have a short nap at the hotel on our vacation tour. We have visited the hotel at 3:30am, receptionist opened a door for us, quick check in. Spacious room for family of four. One double bed and two single. Double bed was in separate room. Each room had a tv. Bathroom was with shower and separate bath. Comfy beds, clean. Stain on carpet and broken some curtains. Car park was full at the time we have arrived, we had to park on lawn next to entrance, other cars did the same.

The ramparts, waterways and gardens are interesting.

The ramparts, waterways and gardens are interesting. It is a very small town with a market on Fridays. The walk along the channel to the sea is very pleasant and you can get the free bus back. It has a tourist office but English is not spoken and only 1 brochure in English. There are not many places to eat and we chose to self cater for various reasons. The local buses are free for 40km around so its a good way to see other places locally. The beaches are sandy, clean and vast with the shoreline a long way out so not so convenient for sea swimming.

As I was involved with the visit of the Dunkirk Little Ships to commemorate Operation Dynamo in 1940, I spent most of my time with them in the Basin de Commerce, and didn't explore Grande Synthe during my visit, therefore it would be unfair of me to comment on the area, other than to ay that what I saw of it, was very clean, fairly quiet with pleasant modern housing, and with an excellent bus service..... I'd live there !!
