It's a very busy place, full of activities, lights at night, transportation noises and just extremely bustling all around. For people who like living in a place full of "happenings", it is indeed the place to be in. For others who like more serene and quiet locations, a few days in Hanoi are sufficient for a great experience. The food is great, lots of fresh vegetables and visitors will be spoilt for choice, literally everywhere you can find food. Do visit Sapa via the sleeper train. Good to try out an overnight train but keep your toiletries and essentials accessible because you may need it for washing up before bed and upon reaching Sapa in the morning.
