FAQs about hotels in New Orleans

Getting its Rhythm Back

The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, the Big Easy is the beating heart of the Deep South.

Dance down Bourbon Street, where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars mixed with more colorful nightlife and entertainment venues. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.

To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by St. Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.

From the river you get great views of the CBD (downtown) skyscrapers and the Louisiana Superdome. Booking.com has several hotels nearby, including some on Canal Street, where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.

In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou.

    This city is amazing.

This city is amazing. It has a great party atmosphere and is a feast for musicians and artists. The buildings are colourful with historic beauty conserved. Social life is inclusive with opportunities to meet amazing people from all cultures. A truly rich experience and especially unique part of the US. It's a treasure!

If you're looking for a party town with history, staying in the centre of New Orleans is a good option. Bourbon Street is party central every night of the week it seems - lots of police presence to keep it safe. You must have a Beignet (fried donut with icing sugar). Streetcars (trams) are easy to catch and pretty cheap ($3 per day for a Jazzy Pass per person) and you can hop on and off any of the street cars. Take the St Charles streetcar through the garden district to see some stunning homes and gardens.

New Orleans is a place to get a fantastic food and to enjoy the culture of the city. If you haven't been in New Orleans it would be a nice trip to enjoy the city. This is a city that survive the major disaster and is still going on strong. However, 4 days in New Orleans is all I could take. After you ate at multiple restaurants and went on a tour you pretty much have satisfied your curiosity. One of the major things that is a disappointment is that when you drive there is literally nowhere in the city to park when going to a lot of the activities that's in the French quarter. The majority of the people use Uber to get around which is better but it's an added expense. Alll the hotels they charging around $45 a day to park onsite. Other than that is an experience you would have to try for yourself.

This is our fourth trip to NOLA in the last four years.

This is our fourth trip to NOLA in the last four years. We love coming for the food and the music. The music on Frenchman Street was incredible. We ate grilled oysters at Mr. Ed's, the three martini lunch at Commander's Palace, took a walking food tour with New Orleans Secrets Tours. On the 4th of July, we took the evening jazz cruise on the Natchez. It was an incredible show up and down the MIssissippi River to the East as well as from downtown. Fireworks were going off in 360 degrees. We went to the Preservation Hall and saw a fantastic show. They now charge for tickets (last time I went was in the 80's when it was free and you could bring in your own drink from Pat O'Briens...) We also sat through a set at Fritzel's on Bourbon Street and heard Dixieland at DBA and the amazing Johnny Mastro at the Apple Barrell. We also dropped in to lots of bars.
