I've been to Amarillo quite a few time in the past but it was always in the late fall season so mosquitoes was never a problem. This trip was summer time and I didn't think about bugs when I went out at night to photograph the Cadillac Ranch. The mosquitoes ate us up! So if you are doing any night activities don't forget the bug repellent. Sorry about the picture quality. Didn't have time to get them on the computer so just took a picture of the back of the camera.

Amarillo is a great city for tourists.

Amarillo is a great city for tourists. With lots of cool things to see and do. Great restaurants abound, lots of museums, parks, lots of great shopping. We have been coming to Amarillo since the early 80's and love everything about it, including nearby, Palo Duro Canyon. Camping and RV'ing fun there too. Amarillo and nearby Canyon are great! We always enjoy our visits here! I-40 and US287 are easy to navigate and all the previous road construction is completed.

Amarillo was a great place to visit.

Amarillo was a great place to visit. Everything was easily accessible off the interstate highways I-40 and I-27. There were plenty of good Mexican restaurants like Jorge's, The Plaza, Abuelo's, El Bracero, Joe Taco and Tacos Garcia. Not to mention the steakhouses such as Texas Roadhouse, Hoffbrau, Saltgrass, Outback, Longhorn and The Big Texan. The kids will enjoy Wonderland Park, and the Amarillo Zoo. The Amarillo Botanical Gardens, Cadilac Ranch, Don Harrington Discovery Center, and the majestic Palo Duro Canyon are all fun places to visit for the entire family.

"cars from the sky" right down the street, from where I lodged. ( bring your spray paint ) also a variety of eating spots right off the 40.. we did the Big Lin Chinese Buffet..( fantastic ) I may book an extended stay in the future to further explore the very friendly town of Amarillo , as it is easy to get around ( drug stores, Wally World, restaurants etc.) not to busy ( l haven't heard any sirens yet ) and the people of North Texas know how to welcome you.

I visited a few areas of Texas on this vacation, with a lot of driving. Amarillo was a strategic stop, although if I would of had more time to spare, I likely would have stayed there longer. I started out in San Antonio and drove up north, spending time in two state parks and a third nature place. So, that part of the trip ended in Amarillo. I visited a few places in the City as well - Cadillac Ranch, Bills Classic Cars and Route 66 stores.

The historic Route 66 district was very charming.

The historic Route 66 district was very charming. We found a antique shop and a bunch of interesting things. The Big Texan ranch offers their famous steaks and good brewery. There are a couple breweries in the town worth your visit if you are interested. While in Amarillo, Palo Duro Canyon State Park is a must to see.

Beautiful hotel in great location. Room was excellent and perfectly equipped. I also want to mention the outstanding customer service. Our room clean and replenish was not done. The manager of the property personally came to explain why and was incredibly gracious and kind. We’ve stayed at many hotels across the US and Europe and were very impressed by his customer focus. I would definately recommend this hotel.

This is a relatively new build hotel and is fresh and clean. Good sized room that was also comfortable. Reasonable breakfast choices available and food was of good quality and freshness. The hotel location is convenient to access to / from the freeway and is only a 10 minute drive from the historic old town Highway 66 strip which we visited to enjoy the old style feel and some great food.

The breakfast was the best we've had since Covid. Very tasty. I'm particular about my coffee so I don't count on much in the places we have stayed over the years. However, THIS Red Roof had excellent coffee, I was so impressed, it made my day since I had 8 more hours of driving. We appreciate all the amenities offered by the hotel. Great area for my dog.
