Taxi is cheap but be carefull to use the taximeter, any fixed price the driver may tell you is always too expensive. Instanbul is a beautiful city steeped in history and to do it justice one needs to spend at least a week there if not more. Transport is good although the Instanbul card system and more specifically the top up card issuing machines can sometimes be confusing. In any case, there is a very good and efficient transport system( trains, buses, trams, ferries) in place. I was a bit disappointed with the food: very expensive and not always of good quality. We were blown away by the history and vitality of Istanbul. We intend to visit again and will broaden our travels to other parts of Türkiye. Fantastic food and interesting neighborhoods, loved Kadikoy, topped off the too brief experience. The combination of Metro, trams and buses made for great transport. I recently dined at GALATA MARİNERO restaurant, conveniently located under the iconic Galata Bridge in Istanbul. It was an excellent choice for lunch. My mother and I were exploring the Galata Bridge area when we stumbled upon this fantastic restaurant. The highlight of our meal was the exceptional fish dishes, although they also offer a range of meat options. We were particularly impressed with the variety of fish cooked to perfection, either grilled or fried, and served with a side of rice or chips and a delicious fresh salad. Special thanks to our waiter, Toprok, who provided outstanding service. He spoke excellent English, was very friendly, and attended to our needs promptly.
