Raise your wine glass and toast the beautiful city of Bordeaux on the banks of the Garonne River. I would recommend going on a free walking tour around the city on the first day which gives you some useful tips on what to see and also where to eat and drink. A great alternative to Paris for a trip to France. Beautiful architecture, many museums, efficient public transportation gives easy access to most of the main tourist attractions, many eating places of every ethnicity and price range. The Office de Tourisme is very helpful. If you plan more than a few days in the Bordeaux region, I recommend going to the Cité du Vin (streetcar line "B") early during your visit and spending at least a half day there.
