Tirana isn’t a postcard city, but it’s energetic, safe, and full of things to keep children engaged. Expect occasional chaos (traffic, parking) and higher prices in the centre than elsewhere in Albania. But the genuine hospitality, the mix of old‑school and ultra‑modern cafés, and plenty of green corners make it a great short break even for us locals. A lovely city to stay.
A lovely city to stay. Never felt threatened when walking through the streets, at any time during the night or day. We stayed in the Orchidea Hotel which was about 15 - 20 minute walk from the city centre. It was an ideal location and the swimming pool was great to have, after a day exploring. Visited Bunk'art1 which was on the outskirts of the city. A cheap bus ride away. Also used the cable car and saw some amazing views of the city from the overlooking mountains. Food and drink were cheap compared to many other European Cities. Plenty of bars, cafes, restaurants for all tastes. Loads of interesting and sometimes sad history about Albania but well worth a visit Transport is cheap by bus and it operates an excellent service.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Bunk art 1 was great.
Bunk art 1 was great. I would like to return to Tirana for 2 or days more at a cooler time of year , April/May or Late September/early October one day , to see Bunk Art 2 and other places . We had a driver who was not phased by the chaotic driving. I’m not sure how relaxing it is to drive . We did Northern Albania as as add on to a trip to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina/ Montenegro and I was amazed at Theth / Valbona . We went to Tirana for a week.
We went to Tirana for a week. The plan was to use it as a base to travel across Albania. Driving in Albania is dangerous and a nightmare. Also roads and CAR PARKS are closed without warning. We were unable to use our car as it was trapped for over 24 hours in a car park. Tirana is nice but only for a couple of days. Sarande, Berat are nice for a short visit of a day or less. The Blue Eye is not worth a visit. Public Transport is a nightmare. Airport is good. We cycled in Tirana but it was scary.Guest review byannUnited Kingdom

Nice rooms very clean. Just a short 10/15 mins walk to the city centre so very convenient and easy. Reception staff happy to help with advice and travel arrangements. Great value for money too. Small local barfew doors down for a quiet cheap drink.. local coffee shops 5/10 mins walk on way to town...if anything a bit locally but that was really nice to see Tirana as it is.
