It will definitely happen this year, but I cannot provide a concrete date.
You don't need to wait for it though. You can start using the current beta release 2.0.0b2 right now. We will not be changing major things at this point and will ensure persistence-level compatibility with the full release. (So at most, you might have to change a parameter name or things like that for your code to be compatible with the final release once it comes out.)
