Description
Why is it worth to add this package?
Although copied from the homepage, the below list gives a good idea of what is possible with this tool:
- Author using Jupyter notebooks or with plain text markdown in your favorite editor.
- Create dynamic content with Python, R, Julia, and Observable.
- Publish reproducible, production quality articles, presentations, dashboards, websites, blogs, and books in HTML, PDF, MS Word, ePub, and more.
- Share knowledge and insights organization-wide by publishing to Posit Connect, Confluence, or other publishing systems.
- Write using Pandoc markdown, including equations, citations, crossrefs, figure panels, callouts, advanced layout, and more.
This tool is most similar to the already available pandoc tool. However, this tool that is being requested, Quarto, has extra functionality listed above that cannot be achieved with pandoc. This software tool is also well supported by the company Posit and the open source community. This is a great addition to the environment because Quarto can be used to generate documentation, books, and even presentations using just plain text syntax similar to Markdown. It is geared towards the scientific community, which leans into reproducible documents and analyses, but can be useful for automating reports in other industries too.

Additional information
I haven't tried installing it just yet, but the package is available cross platforms and has plugins for many text editor interfaces, like Vim, Jupyter notebooks, and more.
Strictly speaking, the package is over 100MiB, but Ubuntu and ARM versions are 118MiB, so only just over the limit.
