The problem

Vorta flat out doesn't make automatic backups over Ethernet, since it looks for a Wi-Fi SSID to check if the network is allowed.

Requested Solution

An option for Ethernet in allowed networks.

Alternatives

Connecting to wi-fi at the same time and allowing the network works but who wants to do that?

I use the Linux build of Vorta.
