No high hopes on this, therefore a question and not a feature request. Feel free to close.
Context
On some [niche] platforms Qt5+ is broken, and therefore PyQt5+.
Expected outcome or clarification needed
Close the issue, if this is troublesome to implement. Or add support for PyQt4, if it is trivial and quick to do.
