Being a globally leading mobile phone manufacturer holding a 14% market share, Transsion has been committed to bringing cutting-edge technology to users around the world. In 2024, the company founded an AI lab to accelerate its AI development and innovation.

As AI technology evolves rapidly, Transsion is constantly seeking the most advanced solutions on the market to develop its new products. As a result, when Transsion's flagship mobile phone brand TENCO was building new AI features on its upcoming model CAMON 40 series, it turned to Google Cloud for the low latency and excellent content generation capabilities of Vertex AI.

"TENCO is committed to bridging the digital gap between emerging and mature markets," says Laury Bai, CMO at TENCO. "By adopting Google Cloud, we're taking a practical approach to make AI more accessible, ensuring users in emerging markets can access AI and cutting-edge technologies."

Why Google Cloud?

In March 2025, TENCO released the CAMON 40 series with several advanced AI features powered by Vertex AI. Using the agentic capabilities of Gemini 1.5 Flash, TENCO developed a multimodal AI assistant named Ella that is able to better understand user instructions and respond instantly, requiring only 0.23 second to receive the first token. To enhance user experience, the team created a one-tap activation button for Ella, so that users can easily seek intelligent suggestions or give commands anytime on the phone.

With the extensive context window of up to one million tokens of Gemini 1.5 Flash, TENCO realized the AI Writing feature that enables text generation, proofreading, and refining without user creativity being restricted by length limits. Through the model's comprehensive translation capabilities, the CAMON 40 series supports text translation in 136 languages, voice translation in 44 languages, and photo translation in 51 languages, making its AI solutions more accessible for users around the world.

The CAMON 40 series exemplifies a commitment to innovation that transcends hardware and software, extending into strategic partnerships between Transsion and Google Cloud that deliver cutting-edge AI solutions to emerging markets. Leveraging Google Cloud's AI capabilities, we've introduced groundbreaking features.

On top of that, TENCO built the AI Image Generator by merging the text refinement capabilities of Gemini 1.5 Flash with Imagen on Vertex AI. Requiring only a few keywords, this feature is able to refine users' description and quickly generate quality images in the style desired.

Besides the outstanding performance, another benefit of using Vertex AI for TENCO is development process acceleration. With its graphical interface and rapid code generation, Vertex AI has enabled the team to innovate and improve its AI features in a short period of time.

"The CAMON 40 series exemplifies a commitment to innovation that transcends hardware and software, extending into strategic partnerships between Transsion and Google Cloud that deliver cutting-edge AI solutions to emerging markets," notes Matt Waldbusser, Managing Director, Global Solutions and Consumer AI at Google Cloud. "Leveraging Google Cloud’s AI capabilities, we’ve introduced groundbreaking features."
